PCI DAQ
De Peripheral Component Interconnect bus of PCI-bus is de opvolger van de ISA-bus. Behalve een hogere snelheid bood de PCI-bus nog meer voordelen ten opzichte van de ISA-bus, onder andere een centrale configuratie, Plug and play en bus-mastering in plaats van de primitievere DMA-kanalen.
De PCI-sleuven zijn uitbreidingssleuven die kunnen worden gebruikt voor insteekkaarten zoals geluidskaarten, netwerkkaarten, RAID-controllers en videokaarten. (Voor grafische kaarten is ook de snellere AGP en PCI-Express-kaart een alternatief voor een PCI-kaart.)
Sinds 2006 is PCI aan het verouderen, omdat zijn opvolgers, PCI-Express en PCI-X, hun opkomst maken. PCI-Express zal voornamelijk voor het gebruik in PC`s zijn, terwijl PCI-X gemaakt is voor servers en workstations.
